Congratulations to mPI’s Rosemarie Booze and Charles Mactutus and Co-PI’s Steven Harrod and Amanda Fairchild on their new NIH grant Neurobiological Mechanisms of Apathy in HAND", funded by National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)/NIH 5 years, $1,831,250).  “The high prevalence of apathy in HIV-1+ individuals, affecting between 30-60% of the infected population, is one of the biggest psychiatric challenges facing HIV researchers. We will study the basic neurobiology of apathy and develop much needed new therapeutic approaches for neuroAIDs”.
